A new track

Knowing that the completion of my first album is right around the corner, I allowed myself to go back to composing. At this point, it’s pretty much out of my hands and it doesn’t mater if I concentrate on the next album. Everything is ready for the first album, even the graphics (sleeve, poster, flyers, etc).

So I opened the file that contains the basic elements of a dark ambient track I had created in February 2007. This basic structure turned out to be the most bone chilling track I’ve done so far. It’s really creepy and fits nicely with the two other tracks of my second album that are ready. I decided to start playing with the new features of my music software. I soon realized that I was getting somewhere really nice. I used one of the bundled patches and modified substantially to fit the atmosphere of the track. I ended up creating a two lanes melody that is really sweet. It’s calm and melancholic but enlightening at the same time. It’s pretty space! Strangely, this turned what was a super creepy track into something rather sweet and it’s just fine like that. The track was completed in about 4 hours.

So far, my second album is extremely different from the first one. It will be a wonderful ride! I feel I’m going to have a lot of fun working on it. I also feel that it won’t take a year and a half to complete it like the first one, mostly because I don’t think I’ll let my tracks aside for a long time. Anyway, we’ll see…

Great news! Another step has been taken in the Delayed Echoes project. I have registered the domain name delayedechoes.com and parked it with my personal domain (marcjutras.com). Both domains point to this blog which will act as the official site for Delayed Echoes.

August

After thinking about it, I decided to postpone the release of my album. It will happen in August, most probably on the 2nd or 9th. That will give me time to do a decent promotion and to avoid the “construction holidays”, the two last weeks of July, where most people take their holidays. Someone asked me to wait until the 16th but that would be too late for my taste. I’ll see…

Final steps

If things go as planned, the mastering of my album should be completed this week. Life being unpredictable in general, the session has been postponed a few times already. This means that I should release the album some time in July instead of June as I first expected. This delay will give me time to do things properly at least. I will organize a launch / listening party at Bar Passeport since I work there and it’s quite nice.

I will soon update Delayed Echoes’ presence on Facebook and MySpace. (People still use MySpace?) As soon as the mastering is done, I’ll be able to put samples on the Web, mainly here. By the way, this blog will be the official website for Delayed Echoes.

Back online

Don’t worry, I’m still here!

My server was down for the last few days because of a fire and explosion in the electricity room of my hosting facility. The fire department ordered them to shut down completely, even the huge backup diesel generators. The IT people have been working very hard and everything seems to be back to normal.

It has most probably been worse on my patience than yours but thanks anyway.
